About Us

This is not a tee shirt! What started as discussions over food, drinks and bonfires by the water became Tribal Cloth. Discussions were about almost anything at first but usually and quickly distilled to surfing, paddleboard surfing, windsurfing, the geopolitical and global macro. We thought, let’s get this on some tee shirts. Maybe we can make enough to fund a surf trip or two. Tribal Cloth was born, and Find Your Tribe was the mission statement/logo that quickly morphed into Better Find Your Tribe as the world decided to take the Crazy Town exit off Interstate Confused and head straight to mass formation-ville.

See our Manifesto for details.

Tribal exists somewhere between The Hundreds and Doomberg in its structure and mission.

The Hundreds:

This is Not a Tee Shirt! That’s the title of Bobby Hundreds book. It’s the story of The Hundreds and the what and the who that made it an iconic streetwear brand. According to the dust cover description “streetwear occupies that rarified space where genuine “cool” coexists with big business”.

Doomberg:

“Doomberg is an independent, widely distributed publication that delivers concise, entertaining, provocative articles derived from our lateral-thinking approach to energy, finance, and geopolitics. We are small team of entrepreneurs that started this business after long careers in the industrial sector. With trillions of taxpayer dollars and myriad government mandates thrown at the energy transition, there was a practical voice missing in the traditional media. We started writing in that voice, with the freedom of having no master to serve beyond the foundation of our own principles, experience, and work ethic.”

Structurally, we’re a little like both of the above. Having said that, you can decide whether we’re cool or not but it’s not our goal to “coexist” with big business or big anything for that matter (a lot has changed since 2003). We exist, survive and thrive despite big business and big government not because of it. We make shirts with the dual purpose of enlightenment and connecting communities-a call to action with a warning.

Our logo is our version of the Southern Cross with five stars for a reason. The Southern Cross as a guide and the five stars as a warning.

Big thanks to Angie for keeping the food coming and the drinks cold.

Now get out there; find your tribe and follow your dream!
